Transcription reduction
Most sites met their 2015 transcription reduction goals. For 2016, there is an expectation to reduce transcription costs by an additional 20%. Lutheran General has been leaning heavily on desktop Dragon and leadership deadlines to reduce telephone transcription. Consults are scheduled to be turned off in March. Operative reports will be turned off sometime in the summer.
Advocate is still planning to deploy M*Modal for those users who would prefer to dictate into a mobile device and have the content come out with some formatting included.
Medication CPOE 8 AM - 5 PM
The directors would like more data about PowerPlan utilization for electrolytes and glycemic control. It would be easier if nurses could suggest the appropriate protocols for the physicians to co-sign.
CareNet+
The newer version of CareNet+ appears to be more useful, but some deficiencies remain. The group is looking for faster loading times to help improve user uptake. Anupam to follow-up with the CareNet+ team.
PC Touch
The directors appreciate the ability to order favorites from the mobile device. Being unable to start IV fluids or enter consults is still a problem.
Issues from prior meetings
[] The CareConnection team will begin working on a single provider directory once the Cerner Revenue Cycle contract is finalized. This will allow physician accounts to be consolidated across sites. Once that work is complete, we should be able to reinstate Physician Consults in PC Touch.
[] If the signature + specialty request (with changing the resident's specialty with each rotation) and SmartTemplate work are performed by separate teams, then we will proceed down both paths simultaneously. Otherwise, we will work on the SmartTemplate request first before adding troponin in the daily labs SmartTemplate.
[] Anupam is still waiting to hear back from the Advance Care Planning Council about changing the requirement for a physical signature for LET orders.
The next meeting is scheduled for January 11, 2016.
